“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors. We borrow it from our children”
Haida Indian saying.

The ancient wilderness living skills and strategies which today are grouped loosely together under the somewhat romantic title of 'Bushcraft' were the living skills of our ancestors and forebears. They were practical skills which enabled them to make fire, find shelter, water and food in an often unfriendly world, but they were also skills which made their lives not only bearable but comfortable and which taught them a deep respect for the nature around them.

It is these same skills or the evolution of them, that we at Bearclaw Bushcraft teach today for they have not changed in millennia due to the simple fact that they work.

All the wilderness living and bushcraft skills taught by us are born of practical, hands on experience earned by the Bearclaw team over our many years of adventures, travels and practical experience. They come from all over the world and are constantly reviewed and renewed as this is a life times journey and a labour of love for us all. It also means the skills taught by Bearclaw aren't just rehashed, second-hand skills learnt from books or others but are skills which have been lived and put into practice for real many times over.

Our excellent instructional standards and thorough depth of knowledge of the skills we teach will enable you to learn to live in harmony with nature and helped you to foster a deeper understanding of the passing seasons as well as the circle of life of which we are all still a part.

With this in mind we look forward to you, one day, joining us in the glowing warmth and radiant friendship of our camp fire, a symbolic place which has always been the traditional starting point for all of life's great journeys. Its steadfast, bright and comforting heart being the first stepping stone onto the ancient paths and trails where our ancestors once, so wisely trod. And from where we hope to guide you with a comforting hand and wise word as you begin your own bushcraft journey.
