The Mora Classic Range
"A well trained person needs only a knife to survive" - Mors Kochanski, in his article Survival on the Boreal Forest
Made popular by the writings of Mors Kochanski (books like Northern Bushcraft or Bushcraft) the Mora classic with its red orche birch handle and iconic shape needs little introduction to the serious bushcrafter or outdoorsman.
Simple, yet robust in design these knives have carried forth generations of wilderness folk who out function and quality above all else. Found in the hands of people who live and work in the wilder places of the world from Siberia to Alaska these carbon steel knives are also my own choice of cutting tool and, in my opinion, second to none.
MoraKniv Classic No2/0
A reliable knife which has a given place among the tools of the bushcrafter. Also used to a great extent by carpenters and those working with wood. Its smaller size makes it ideal for anyone with a smaller hand size.
75mm blade of carbon steel and a handle of red ochre birch.
MoraKniv Classic No1
This robust knife has earned its place among the tools I carry. Perfect for all bushcraft tasks and excellent for wearing as a "necker" the knife has a 100 mm carbon steel blade and a handle of red ochre birch.
MoraKniv Classic No2
A reliable and slightly larger knife for those who prefer a tool with a longer blade and a slightly fuller handle. Used to a great extent by carpenters. A full sized bushcraft tool.
The 110mm blade is carbon steel and a handle of red ochre birch.
Morakniv Classic No3
The largest of the range and a full sized hunters knife - Leuku sized and excellent of butchery as well as standard camp chores the No3 is the MoraKniv camp knife! 150mm carbon steel blade with the standard red ochre birch handle
Morakniv Classic "Woodsplitter"
The wood splitting knife is an obvious adornment for your fireplace or wood-burning stove. It's also the ultimate tool for splitting wood when building a fire and a perfect drawknife of carving projects from Bows to canoes to camp furniture! Birchwood handle. 110 mm Carbon steel blade.
All the Morakniv classic range are carbon steel stick tang tools of a classic Scandinavian style - the price, steel quality and temper (HRC 59-60) also make them excellent items for the custom maker! Top tip here is if you "rescale" or handle your knife keep the plastic sheath (at least the section which houses the blade) as these, sewn into a leather sheath, make excellent blade guards too!
Mora Forest
The Mora Bushcraft FOREST knife is a new innovative design in cutting tools. The blade is 115 mm long and 2.5 mm thick and comes with a specially sculpted bevel which is designed to offer excellent carving potential close to the handle as well as butchery and game prep where the bevel is reduced towards the tip. The Forest is an excellent all rounder and could possibly be set the take the title of best all round Bushcraft knife from the now legendary Clipper!
The knife comes with a khaki green hand grip, a sheath, with a flexible strap, of the same colour. Blade is stainless steel so ideal for the canoeist or fisherman as well!
MORA TRIFLEX
The Bushcraft Triflex is hardier tool, resistant to breakage when compared to many a stainless blade while maintaining the familiar Clipper style blade typical of the Scandinavian cutting tools. Triflex’s carbon steel blade has a conventional Scandinavian grind and a blade which is progressively tempered providing a hard edge and even tougher spine all of which gives exceptional edge retention combined with a robust toughness. The tool has an olive-coloured hand grip and a black sheath which comes with a flexible belt loop. The TRIFLEX blade is also easy to use with a fire steel.
Blade length: 116 mm, thickness: 2.5 mm
Note - It's a carbon blade and will rust if neglected.
MORA FORCE
Stainless steel blade designed to do what is says on the tin! The 115 mm long and 2.5 mm thick blade is not profile-ground, which means that the knife is heavier, more robust and very useful when it comes to game prep as well and the standard Bushcraft tasks.
The black hand grip is contoured for secure grip and olive coloured sheath has a flexible belt loop.
